hey brothers, i'm out of michigan local 1102 and was wondering who does the wind trubines and is there any training available like the vegas classes? I would like to get any certs that are available but i'm sure that they are the same as any other trubine job except the veriable speed and of course they sit on top of a tall tower. I see this as being one thing that may get us back to work if we can keep it from the iron workers. if anyone know's of work or is looking for a millwright with 12 yrs and all the certs please email me. i am willing to travel and as you can imagine michigan has went into lockdown mode since gm and chrysler have filed.

Jason, you didn't happen to your vegas back around the end of sept. last year/ 08 did you? I'm out of 1554 in Nashville and had some 1102 guys in the same class when I was out in Vegas in Sept.

Most of the wind turbine work is only ironworkers and laborers. Some do hire millwrights. They are "composite crews".

do ironheads ever do any ironworker work? what about a turbine being driven by wind is ironworkers work? I have figured out over the last 25yrs. what the word composit means( to scerw a millwright out of his own work while he stands there and showes you how to do it ) .My question to you all-how union are the other trades if they will do any and allother crafts work . Seems to me that might be the true def. of a scab?
